about

Social awkwardness and separation anxiety.

lyrics

Every moment passes like a pressing dream.
I'm firing on all engines but run out of steam.
There's people all around, but none to hear me scream;
a problem in translation, no one sees, it seems.
Sitting in the middle of a speeding train;
every eye is blinded, every face is pain.
I reach out to embrace you, and to my disdain,
you recoil in rage to leave me 'lone again.
What did I do to you to deserve this life?
No one bothered to tell me empathy was strife!
I merely did what I thought would both satisfy,
and make me feel like I'm no longer dead inside.
Preaching to a choir about killing time--
the audience is deaf, and cannot read the mimes!
The world is sitting calmly list'ing to the rhymes,
and no one realizes that's the greatest crime!
Always speak of love, but only offer hate.
I try to reach out to you, but it's just too late.
We speak a different language, word's can't pierce the gate,
no way to make you understand, so I just wait.
All are in this world, but who has truly lived?
So many words unspoken, because rules persist
on what you can say when, and how to market it!
Should we abide by rules that stand just to restrict
all our minds and feelings into mangled balls?
No one wants to handle your life if smeared in gall,
for no one else is able to see them at all.
We all are born in bondage to our social call.
"Prisoners of pagentry and normalcy!"
"Social slaves who only mature to infancy!"
"Only act in public ways that cater to me!"
I don't think this is how the world is meant to be.

about

Eli House Charlotte, North Carolina

My words speak to the character of a person struggling to take care of himself in a world that wants to pretend that his problems don't exist. As a poet, I use my music as a platform to reach out to those individuals dealing with the terrors of mental illness. I hope that they will give you comfort in knowing that someone else understands, or maybe... reveal something you may not know in yourself! ... more
